Crecimiento y rendimiento maderable para plantaciones de Pinus pseudostrobus Lind. y P. montezumae Lamb. en Michoacán, México.

Abstract

El estado de Michoacán, México, tiene alto potencial para el establecimiento de plantaciones forestales (PF), pero es necesario contar con información cuantitativa confiable para su manejo y aprovechamiento. El objetivo general de esta investigación fue construir y proyectar un sistema de crecimiento y rendimiento maderable (SCRM) para PF de Pinus pseudostrobus y Pinus montezumae en la Comunidad Indígena de Nuevo San Juan Parangaricutiro, Michoacán, México. Para ello se planearon los objetivos específicos de (i) compilar y analizar la información dasométrica colectada, para diseñar el establecimiento, generar recomendaciones en la aplicación de labores culturales o complementarios y planificar el manejo silvícola de las PF establecidas en la región templada de Michoacán; (ii) modelar a través de efectos mixtos (MEM) las relaciones alométricas entre los diámetros de tocón (dt), normal (dn) y de copa (dc), alturas de fuste limpio (Afl) y total (At), y volumen de fuste con corteza; (iii) calcular y correlacionar algunos índices morfométricos (IM), y cuantificar la relación proporcional de copa (pc%) en función del dn; (iv) proponer un modelo generalizado At-dn por especie de Pinus; (v) ajustar un modelo de crecimiento en altura dominante (Ad) y construir curvas de índice de sitio (IS) para las PF; y (vi) desarrollar un Sistema de Crecimiento y Rendimiento Maderable (SCRM) explicito para las PF. Los resultados de esta investigación muestran que la información silvícola para el establecimiento, manejo y aprovechamiento de PF es limitada y deficiente para el área de estudio. Los MEM mostraron mejoras estadísticas y de precisión en comparación con los enfoques de ajuste de Mínimos Cuadrados Lineales y No Lineales. Además, se observó la influencia cuantitativa de la altitud, topografía, características ambientales y densidad de plantación con las relaciones alométricas de interés forestal, de clasificación de las áreas forestales por productividad y de rendimiento maderable en las PF. _______________ GROWTH AND TIMBER YIELD FOR PLANTATIONS OF Pinus pseudostrobus Lind. ABSTRACT: The state of Michoacán, Mexico has a high potential for the establishment of commercial forest plantations (FP), but it is necessary to have reliable quantitative information for their management and use. The general objective of this research was to build and project a system of growth and timber yield (SCRM) for FP of Pinus pseudostrobus and Pinus montezumae in the Indigenous Community of Nuevo San Juan Parangaricutiro, Michoacán, Mexico. To this end, the specific objectives of (i) to compile and analyze the dasometric information collected to design the establishment, generate recommendations in the application of cultural or complementary tasks and plan the silvicultural management of the PF established in the temperate region of Michoacán; (ii) model through mixed effects (MEM) the allometric relationships between stump (dt), normal (dn) and crown (dc) diameters, clean stem (Afl) and total (At) heights, and volume stem with bark; (iii) calculate and correlate some morphometric indices (MI), and quantify the crown proportional relationship (pc%) based on dn; (iv) propose a generalized At-dn model by Pinus species; (v) fit a dominant height (Ad) growth model and construct site index (SI) curves for the PF; and (vi) develop an explicit Timber Growth and Yield System (SCRM) for the PF. The results of this research show that the silvicultural information for the establishment, management and use of PF is limited and deficient for the study area. The MEM showed statistical and precision improvements compared to the Linear and Nonlinear Least Squares fitting approaches. In addition, the quantitative influence of altitude, topography, environmental characteristics, and plantation density with allometric relationships of forest interest, classification of forest areas by productivity and timber yield in the PF was observed.
