Los niños nahuas pastores de caprinos en la montaña de Guerrero.

Abstract

Con el objetivo de describir lo que los niños nahuas pastores de caprinos piensan y representa para ellos la producción de cabras, los conocimientos tradicionales de manejo y su participación en la actividad en la Montaña del Estado de Guerrero, se aplicó un cuestionario a profundidad a siete informantes claves de tres comunidades. La información registrada, directamente en el corral de cabras después del regreso de pastoreo, tuvo relación con las condiciones socioeconómicas de las comunidades y la familia, los aprendizajes, el rebaño de cabras, la percepción del niño como pastor, los conocimientos del manejo de caprinos y la venta y uso de los caprinos. Las comunidades cuentan con los servicios básicos de educación, electricidad, agua potable, transporte, telecomunicaciones y escaso acceso al servicios de salud. Las actividades económicas de las familias son de subsistencia, a base de la agricultura, ganadería, autoempleo, jornaleo y la migración. Los rebaños son de 15 a 60 cabras bajo el cuidado de la familia. Los niños nahuas pastores de caprinos aprendieron el cuidado de las cabras desde pequeños acompañando a los adultos. Al principio, la actividad se realiza como juego y diversión y después se convierte en una responsabilidad. Los niños mostraron poseer los conocimientos técnicos básicos de la biología de las cabras, de las enfermedades, de las plantas forrajeras y del cambio estacional de la vegetación. Por las condiciones de pobreza y marginación de las comunidades de la Montaña de Guerrero, y ante la escasa ocupación remunerada de las personas adultas, los niños se ocupan y se responsabilizan del cuidado de los caprinos. _______________ NAHUAS CHILDREN SHEPHERDS OF GOATS IN THE MOUNTAIN OF GUERRERO. ABSTRACT: With the objective of describing what the Nahua goat herding children think and represent for them the production of goats, the traditional management knowledge and their participation in the activity in the Mountain of the State of Guerrero, an in-depth questionnaire was applied to seven key informants from three communities. The information recorded, directly in the goat pen after the return from grazing, related to the socio-economic conditions of the communities and family, apprenticeships, the herd of goats, the perception of the child as a shepherd, knowledge of the handling of goats and the sale and cultural use of goats. Communities have basic services such as education, electricity, drinking water, transport, telecommunications and limited access to health services. The economic activities of families are of subsistence, based on agriculture, livestock, self-employment, sale of labour and migration. The herds are from 15 to 60 goats under the care of the family. The Nahua children shepherds of goats learned the care of goats from childhood accompanying adults. At first, the activity is done as a game and fun and then becomes a responsibility. The children demonstrated basic technical knowledge of goat biology, disease, native forage plants and seasonal vegetation change. Because of the conditions of poverty and marginalization of the communities of Montaña de Guerrero, and because of the low paid employment of adults, children take care of and take responsibility for the care of goats.
