Caracterización morfológica y físico-química de selecciones de Chinene (Persea schiedeana Nees) en Veracruz.

Abstract

El chinene (Persea schiedeana Ness) es una especie arbórea perennifolia tropical y subtropical perteneciente a la familia Lauraceae, cuyos frutos son apreciados y consumidos por los pobladores de los lugares donde crece (Cruz-Castillo et al., 2007), iniciando en el centro de México, en los estados de Puebla, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Chiapas y Tamaulipas (Koop.1966., Sánchez-Pérez.1999 y Maldonado, et al., 2004) y con presencia en Centroamérica hasta Panamá (López et al. 2007). En el estado de Veracruz se han encontrado selecciones de Persea schiedeana Ness principalmente en los municipios de Huatusco, Coscomatepec Ixhuatlán del Café y Chocamán, ubicados en la región montañosa central de la entidad. Las selecciones encontradas poseen características diferentes entre sí, por lo que se realizó una caracterización morfológica y físico-química de ellas para conocer su relación así como la semejanza entre sus características físico-químicas y las presentes en el aguacate (Persea americana Mill) var. Hass. Para la realización del estudio se realizó un recorrido por los cuatro municipios antes mencionados, con ayuda de un geo localizador se ubicaron ocho selecciones. Se tomaron muestras de hoja, flor y fruto de cada selección. El material genético colectado se evaluó tomando en consideración características cualitativas y cuantitativas, y la caracterización físico-química se realizó únicamente de los frutos. Finalmente se encontró que las selecciones presentan diferencias morfológicas entre ellas principalmente en cuanto a dimensiones tanto de hoja como de fruto pero también presentan similitudes, lo que lleva a la conclusión de que existe una variabilidad genética entre las ocho selecciones. La caracterización físico-química arrojó diferencias significativas entre ellas pero con una estrecha relación entre sí. Con respecto al aguacate var. Hass, presentaron atributos semejantes a éste, aunque en algunos aspectos resultaron poseer mayores cantidades de elementos como fibra y carbohidratos que los encontrados en el aguacate. _______________ ABSTRACT: The chinene (Persea schiedeana Ness) is a species tropical and subtropical evergreen belonging to the Lauraceae family, whose fruits are appreciated and consumed by the inhabitants of the places where it grows (Cruz-Castillo et al., 2007), starting in the center of Mexico, in the states of Puebla, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Chiapas and Tamaulipas (Koop.1966. The collected genetic material was evaluated taking into account qualitative and quantitative characteristics, and the physicochemical characterization was made solely of fruits. Finally it was found that the selections have morphological differences between them mainly in terms of both size sheet as fruit but also have similarities, leading to the conclusion that there is a genetic variability among eight teams. The physico-chemical characterization showed significant differences among them but with a close relationship to each other. With respect to avocado. Hass, had similar attributes to it, although in some respects turned out to have higher amounts of elements such as fiber and carbohydrates than those found in avocados.
