Presiones de la agricultura periurbana en el municipio de Cuautlancingo, Puebla.

Abstract

La urbanización ha modificado los usos de suelo agrícola en el municipio de Cuautlancingo, ya que la disponibilidad de terrenos, así como de mano de obra agrícola y medios para la producción, cada vez es menor. Pese a este contexto adverso, la actividad agropecuaria sobrevive en el municipio; por tanto, resulta interesante conocer cuáles son los factores que permiten que la agricultura persista bajo estas condiciones. Por esta razón, en esta investigación se pretende identificar el contexto adverso para la reproducción de la agricultura en la configuración del espacio periurbano de Cuautlancingo, Puebla; además de analizar los factores que favorecen la permanencia de la actividad agraria periurbana en el municipio. Para ello, se utilizará el estudio de caso; esto mediante una colecta de información secundaria, recorridos de campo, así como entrevistas a informantes clave y a productores. Derivado de esta investigación, se identificaron los principales detonadores de las transformaciones territoriales que ha experimentado el municipio, los cuales han incidido en la configuración del espacio periurbano, así como de las actividades agropecuarias que se desarrollan en él. El análisis revela que el cambio territorial forma parte de un proceso social complejo que involucra las dimensiones geográfica, productiva, cultural y social. De esta forma, entre los resultados principales destaca la pérdida de cobertura y uso de suelo agropecuario como resultado del crecimiento del sector industrial y el mercado inmobiliario en la región. Sin embargo, la agricultura resiste estas presiones gracias a los referentes identitarios y comunitarios que dicha actividad entraña para los agricultores. _______________ PRESSURES TO PERIURBAN AGRICULTURE IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF CUAUTLANCINGO, PUEBLA. ABSTRACT: Urbanization has modified the uses of agricultural land in the municipality of Cuautlancingo, since the availability of land, as well as agricultural labor and means for production, is becoming less. Despite this adverse context, agricultural activity survives in the municipality; Therefore, it is interesting to know what are the factors that allow agriculture to persist under these conditions. For this reason, the objective of the work is to identify the adverse context for the reproduction of agriculture in the municipality of Cuautlancingo, Puebla; besides analyzing the factors that favor the permanence of the periurban farmer activity in the municipality. For this, a case study was conducted; this through a collection of secondary information, field visits, as well as interviews with key informants and farmers. This research identifies the main detonators of the territorial transformations that the municipality has experienced, which have affected the configuration of the periurban space, as well as the agricultural and livestock activities that take place in it. The analysis reveals that territorial change is part of a complex social process that involves the geographical, productive, cultural and social dimensions. In this way, the main results include the loss of coverage and use of agricultural land in the municipality of Cuautlancingo as a result of industrial sector and real estate market growth in the region. However, agriculture resists these pressures thanks to the identity and community references that this activity entails for farmers.
