dc.description.abstract | El estudio se realizó de enero a mayo del 2011 en la huerta comercial de mango (Mangifera indica) var. Manila “El Pantano” en Tierra Blanca, Veracruz, México. Se evaluaron aceite mineral, azufre, spinosad e imidacloprid para controlar escama blanca (A. tubercularis) y trips (F. invasor y F. cephalica), que son las principales plagas que atacan a este cultivo. Se llevaron a cabo muestreos periódicos para estimar las poblaciones de las plagas a combatir. Los resultados obtenidos se analizaron con el programa SAS para comparar medias con la prueba de medias de LSD (diferencia mínima significativa) y la prueba de Friedman con un valor de alfa de 0.05%. El aceite mineral, el azufre y el spinosad fueron más eficientes para el control de escama blanca. No se obtuvieron diferencias significativas en el control de trips en inflorescencias y brotes vegetativos, pero se observó que las poblaciones de trips sólo están presentes en la floración y cuando hay brotes vegetativos tiernos, por lo que sus poblaciones se reducen por sí solas cuando no hay presencia de esas fuentes de alimento. La mejor calidad del fruto expresada en longitud y peso se observó con tratamientos de azufre, aceite mineral e imidacloprid. _______________ CHEMICAL CONTROL IN MANGO (Mangifera indica L.) AGAINST WHITE SCALE AND THRIPS IN TIERRA BLANCA, VERACRUZ, MEXICO. ABSTRACT: The study was conducted from January to May 2011 in a commercial mango (Mangifera indica L.) orchard var. Manila at "El Pantano", Tierra Blanca, Veracruz, Mexico. Mineral oil, sulfur, spinosad and imidacloprid were evaluated to control white scale (A. tubercularis) and thrips (F. invasor and F. cephalica) which are major pests that attack this crop. Periodical sampling was carried out to estimate populations of the target pests. The results were analyzed with SAS with the mean test LSD (least significant difference) and the Friedman test with an alpha value of 0.05%. Mineral oil, sulfur and spinosad were more efficient to control white scale. No significant differences were obtained in the control of thrips in inflorescences and vegetative shoots, but it was observed that thrips populations are present only in flowering and vegetative shoots when tender, so their populations alone are reduced when these food sources are present. The best fruit quality expressed in length and weight was observed with sulfur treatments, mineral oil and imidacloprid. | en_US |
