| dc.description.abstract | Al igual que otras áreas rurales de México, en el municipio de Paso de Ovejas,
Veracruz, las principales actividades económicas son las agropecuarias, sin
embargo, se observa escaso desarrollo socioeconómico de la población que
depende de ellas y altos índices de emigración, dado que cada vez son menos
redituables. En contraste, Paso de Ovejas, cuenta con importantes recursos
naturales y culturales, que pueden ser aprovechados para el turismo alternativo,
como opción de empleo e ingreso extra para los productores, al mismo tiempo que
se conserva el patrimonio natural. Sin embargo, existe poco conocimiento de los
recursos turísticos del municipio y escasa valoración local de los mismos. En este
contexto, el objetivo de la investigación fue identificar, caracterizar y evaluar los
sitios con potencial para el desarrollo de rutas de turismo alternativo en Paso de
Ovejas y las principales limitantes para su implementación. Para identificar los
sitios con potencial turístico se entrevistó a diez informantes clave. Posteriormente
se visitó cada sitio, caracterizándolo en una ficha previamente seleccionada. El
potencial turístico de los sitios agrupados en seis localidades, se evaluó mediante
indicadores propuestos en una matriz y se diseñaron siete rutas de turismo
alternativo que fueron evaluadas para determinar su potencialidad. Se identificaron
19 sitios con potencial turístico en seis localidades, de las cuales dos registraron
alto potencial, tres mediano y una bajo. De las rutas, seis presentaron alto
potencial y una potencial medio. Se concluye que en el municipio existe potencial
para implementar rutas de turismo alternativo. Esto implica la rehabilitación de
algunos sitios, inversión en infraestructura turística mínima y apoyo de las
autoridades municipales para vincular las rutas a los circuitos turísticos de la
ciudad de Veracruz._______As any other rural areas of Mexico, the main economic activities in the municipality
of Paso de Ovejas, Veracruz, are animal husbandry and agriculture. Nevertheless,
there is little socio-economic development among the people that depend on these
activities and a high migration index exists, as these are becoming increasingly
less profitable. In contrast, Paso de Ovejas, has important natural and cultural
resources that have potential for alternative tourism, as an option for employment
and extra income for the farmers, whilst preserving their natural heritage. However,
there is little awareness of the tourism potential of the municipality’s undervalued
natural resources. In this context, the objective of this investigation was to identify,
characterize and evaluate the potential for the development of alternative tourist
routes in Paso de Ovejas, as well as the main obstacles for its implementation. Ten
key informants were interviewed to identify the sites with tourist potential.
Afterwards each site was visited, characterizing it by using a previously selected
format. The tourist potential of the sites gathered in six localities were evaluated by
proposed indicators in a matrix, and seven tourist routes were designed and
evalued to determine their potential. In total, 19 sites with potential for tourism were
identified resulting in two of the localities ranked high, three medium and one low. It
was concluded that the potential to implement alternative tourist routes in the
municipality exists, It implies the rehabilitation of some sites, investment in a
minimum of tourist infrastructure and support from the municipal authorities to link
the routes to the existing tourist circuits surrounding the city of Veracruz. | es |
