Necesidad de una Institución de Enseñanza Superior en el Municipio de Chimalhuacán, Estado de México

Abstract

La educación superior es uno de los elementos fundamentales para alcanzar una sociedad más justa y progresista. Muchos analistas han planteando que para poder crecer económicamente se requiere no solamente de capital para invertir, sino también de capital humano, entendido éste como el desarrollo de las habilidades de aquella parte de la sociedad que está en posibilidades de participar en alguna actividad económica. Ahora bien, dichas habilidades podrán alcanzarse, en esencia, por dos vías: la experiencia y la preparación profesional; sin embargo, la población joven va en aumento, la matricula ofertada por las autoridades gubernamentales1 permanece estancada y, por lo tanto, es imprescindible crear opciones educativas de nivel superior en los ámbitos locales para alcanzar el fin antes señalado.

Como resultado de una investigación en el municipio de Chimalhuacán, con respecto al proyecto del actual Ayuntamiento de crear una universidad, se presenta el siguiente estudio. El objetivo es conocer la demanda potencial que podría tener una institución educativa superior, las carreras que preferirían los jóvenes y el posible apoyo al proyecto educativo. En este contexto era imprescindible conocer la situación socioeconómica de la población encuestada, pues constituye un factor determinante de la disposición y capacidad para acceder a la educación. En el estudio se consideró la opinión de los jóvenes en edad de ingresar al nivel superior, se usó el muestreo por conglomerados simple y se agrupó a los jóvenes de la siguiente manera: 1) quienes cursan sus estudios de licenciatura; 2) quienes cursan sus estudios de bachillerato; y 3) quienes terminaron su preparatoria dos años antes de la fecha en que se realizó la encuesta y que no continuaron sus estudios. La conclusión principal del estudio es que resulta necesaria y apremiante la creación de una universidad, conociendo la gran demanda de los jóvenes por educación superior.__________Higher education is one of the essential elements to reach a fairer and more progressive society. Many analysts have suggested that not only economic resources, but also human capital (understood it as the abilities developed by the people who could take part of an economic activity) are needed by all nations in order to growth. Now then, such abilities could be essentially reached in two ways: experience and professional training; furthermore, young population is each time bigger, the register offered by government’s schools remains at a standstill and therefore, it is essential to create higher education institutions beyond those established in the main cities.

This investigation is presented as a result of a research in the borough of Chimalhuacán with regard to the Council project of creating a University. The main purpose of this investigation is to know the potential demand for a higher education institution, the degree courses that this could offer and the possible support to this educational project. In this context, the socioeconomic situation of the polled population could not be omitted, since it determines the possibility and capacity they have to access to education. The opinion of young people whose age and education would gain them access to college was considered in this research through simple cluster-sampling and the population was grouped this way: 1) those who are currently doing a degree; 2) those who go to high school; and 3) those who finished high school 2 years before this survey and stopped their education. The most important obtained conclusion is that opening a University in Chimalhuacán is an urgent matter, due to the young people’s vast demand for higher education.
