Estudio de características reproductivas en un rebaño comercial de ovejas pelibuey en Campeche, México

Abstract

La producción de ovinos en el trópico mexicano está encaminada hacia la intensificación y especialización de razas de pelo, desarrollando individuos capaces de expresar su habilidad genética; sin embargo hay condiciones de origen no genético que afectan la reproducción. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar si el año, mes y tipo de parto así como el color de la capa externa tienen efecto sobre la edad a primer parto (EPP), prolificidad (PRO) e intervalo entre partos (IEP) en un rebaño comercial en ovejas Pelibuey en Campeche, México. Se utilizó el procedimiento de GLM del paquete estadístico SAS. Las medias generales de cuadrados mínimos de EPP, PRO e IEP fueron 463.9 ± 13.0, 1.72 ± 0.60 y 296.7 ± 17.9, respectivamente. Existió efecto significativo (P<0.01) para todas las variables del estudio, excepto el mes de parto para IEP (P>0.05). Se concluye que las condiciones de tipo no genético tienen efecto sobre las variables reproductivas. _______________ STUDY OF REPRODUCTIVE FEATURES IN A COMMERCIAL FLOCK OF SHEEP IN PELIBUEY CAMPECHE, MEXICO. ABSTRACT: Sheep production in the humid tropics is oriented to the intensification and specialization of hair breeds, developing individuals capable of expressing their genetic ability, but there are conditions of genetic origin affecting reproduction. The aim of this study was to evaluate if the year, month and type of delivery and the color of the outer layer have an effect on age at first lambing (AFL), prolificacy (PRO) and lambing interval (LI) in a commercial flock of Pelibuey ewes in Campeche, México. Were evaluated utilizing the GLM procedure of SAS. Overall least square means for AFL, PRO and LI were 463.9 ± 13.0, 1.72 ± 0.60 and 296.7 ± 17.9, respectively. There was significant (P <0.01) for all study variables, except the month of birth for LI (P> 0.05). Were concluded that such non-genetic conditions have an effect on reproductive variables.
